Safety

The S3’s pre-crash front seatbelts will tighten automatically in the event the vehicle detects an impending crash, improving protection against injury significantly. The G70 doesn’t offer pre-crash pretensioners.

Both the S3 and G70 have child safety locks to prevent children from opening the rear doors. The S3 has power child safety locks, allowing the driver to activate and deactivate them from the driver's seat and to know when they're engaged. The G70’s child locks have to be individually engaged at each rear door with a manual switch. The driver can’t know the status of the locks without opening the doors and checking them.

The Audi S3 has standard driver and front passenger side knee airbags mounted low on the dashboard. These airbags help prevent the driver and front passenger from sliding under their seatbelts or the main frontal airbags; this keeps them better positioned during a collision for maximum protection. Knee airbags also help keep the legs from striking the dashboard, preventing knee and leg injuries in the case of a serious frontal collision. The G70 doesn’t offer a front passenger side knee airbag.

The S3 has a standard Secondary Collision Brake Assist, which automatically applies the brakes in the event of a crash to help prevent secondary collisions and prevent further injuries. The G70 doesn’t offer a post collision braking system: in the event of a collision that triggers the airbags, more collisions are possible without the protection of airbags that may have already deployed.

To provide maximum traction and stability on all roads, All-Wheel Drive is standard on the S3. But it costs extra on the G70.

Both the S3 and the G70 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front and rear side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning and available around view monitors.

Warranty

The S3’s corrosion warranty is 5 years longer than the G70’s (12 vs. 7 years).

There are over 41 percent more Audi dealers than there are Genesis dealers, which makes it easier should you ever need service under the S3’s warranty.

Reliability

The Audi S3’s engine uses a cast iron block for durability, while the G70’s engines use an aluminum block. Aluminum engine blocks are much more prone to warp and crack at high temperatures than cast iron.

From surveys of all its subscribers, Consumer Reports’ March 2025 Auto Issue reports that Audi vehicles are more reliable than Genesis vehicles. Consumer Reports ranks Audi 7 places higher in reliability than Genesis.

Engine

The S3’s 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder produces 28 more horsepower (328 vs. 300) than the G70 2.5T’s standard 2.5 turbo 4-cylinder.

As tested in Motor Trend the Audi S3 is faster than the Genesis G70:

To lower fuel costs and make buying fuel easier, the Audi S3 uses regular unleaded gasoline (premium recommended for maximum performance). The G70 2.5T requires premium, which can cost on average about 84.9 cents more per gallon.

Transmission

The S3 offers a standard sequential manual gearbox (SMG). With no clutch pedal to worry about and a fully automatic mode, an SMG is much more efficient than a conventional automatic but just as easy to drive. The G70 doesn’t offer an SMG or a conventional manual transmission.

Brakes and Stopping

For better stopping power the S3’s front brake rotors are larger than those on the G70:

Tires and Wheels

For better traction, the S3’s optional tires are larger than the largest tires available on the G70 (235/35R19 vs. 225/40R19).

The S3’s optional tires provide better handling because they have a lower 35 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the G70’s 40 series front tires.

Changing a flat tire near traffic can be dangerous and inconvenient. The run-flat tires available on the S3 can be driven up to 50 miles without any air pressure, allowing you to drive to a service station for a repair. The G70 doesn’t offer run-flat tires.

Suspension and Handling

The S3 has standard front and rear gas-charged shocks for better control over choppy roads. The G70’s suspension doesn’t offer rear gas-charged shocks.

The S3 offers an optional driver-adjustable suspension system. It allows the driver to choose between an extra-supple ride, reducing fatigue on long trips, or a sport setting, which allows maximum control for tricky roads. The G70’s suspension doesn’t offer adjustable shock absorbers.

The S3 handles at .95 G’s, while the G70 Sport Prestige AWD pulls only .88 G’s of cornering force in a Motor Trend skidpad test.

The S3 executes Motor Trend’s “Figure Eight” maneuver 1.6 seconds quicker than the G70 Sport Prestige AWD (24.6 seconds @ .79 average G’s vs. 26.2 seconds @ .69 average G’s).

Chassis

The S3 is 7 inches shorter than the G70, making the S3 easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

Cargo Capacity

To make loading and unloading groceries and cargo easier, especially for short adults, the S3 has a standard power trunk, which opens and closes automatically by pressing a button, or optionally by just kicking your foot under the back bumper, completely leaving your hands free. The G70 doesn’t offer a power trunk, so its trunk has to be closed manually.

Towing

The S3 has a 3500 lbs. towing capacity. The G70 has no towing capacity.

Ergonomics

The S3’s rain-sensitive wipers adjust their speed and turn on and off automatically based on the amount of rainfall on the windshield. This allows the driver to concentrate on driving without constantly adjusting the wipers. The G70’s standard manually variable intermittent wipers have to be constantly adjusted.

Heated windshield washer nozzles are standard on the S3 to prevent washer fluid and nozzles from freezing and help continue to keep the windshield clear in sub-freezing temperatures. The G70 doesn’t offer heated windshield washer nozzles.

In poor weather, headlights can lose their effectiveness as grime builds up on their lenses. This can reduce visibility without the driver realizing. The S3 has standard headlight washers to keep headlight output high. The G70 doesn’t offer headlight washers.

To quickly and conveniently keep personal devices charged without cables tangling and wearing out, the Audi S3 has a standard wireless phone charging system (Qi) in the center console. Only the G70 Prestige offers wireless charging.

The S3’s Park Assist can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, with the driver only controlling the transmission and speed with the brake pedal. With its available fully controlled system, the driver just activates it and it parks autonomously, starting, stopping and changing direction automatically. The G70 doesn’t offer an automated parking system.

Economic Advantages

According to iSeeCars.com the 2025 Audi S3 retains 51.66% of its original value after 5 years, more than the 50.98% resale value of the 2025 Genesis G70 after five years, which can save the Audi’s owner.
